Bead Night 6/25 Review

Our Bead Night at the Midlothian store on Saturday, 6/25, was a blast. We had 4 beaders and had a lot of fun. One lucky winner received a door prize of a Bead Corner jewelry pouch and a pair of memory wire crimpers. Everyone had a lot of fun working on their jewelry projects and getting inspiration from each other, which is my favorite thing about bead night! We all help each other!

I hope you’ll join us for our next Bead Night. Look for more details here, or join the e-mail list to receive monthly emails about beading and jewelry-making events at the Michaels stores on Midlothian Turpike and West Broad Street in Richmond, VA!

Getting started with BCDA Jewelry-making Classes

The Fundamentals classes can be take in any order; however, I recommend that most beginning beaders start with the Fundamentals of Bead Stringing and the Fundamentals of Crimping. One of the great things about these Bead Corner Design Academy classes is that they emphasize the techniques rather than the project. When you register for class, you will receive a syllabus with a suggested supply list for class, but you have the freedom to choose the colors and types of beads. After all, you want to learn to create beautiful jewelry that suits your unique style.

Beginning beaders who want to learn techniques for making earrings and wire-wrapped beads and pendants should check out the Fundamentals of Wire Wrapping. The Fundamentals of Knotting is a great class for people interested in incorporating hemp and other fibers, and making more natural or masculine jewelry.

More advanced jewelry makers who want to learn a new technique may be interested in our intermediate classes, or Fundamentals such as Wire Crochet and Metal Stamping.

Hello!

My name is Rebecca Spivey. I design and sell my own jewelry, which you can learn more about at RippingItDown.com.  I am also an instructor for Bead Corner Design Academy classes – available exclusively at Michaels Arts & Crafts stores! Right now I teach at two stores in the Richmond, VA, metro area – the Midlothian store at 11647 Midlothian Tnpk, 23113, and the West End store at 9856 W. Broad St, 23233.

I’ll be using this blog to post class schedules, descriptions & samples. Currently all BCDA classes are $25 for a 2-hour class, plus the cost of supplies. We also have special beading events such as Bead Night, demos & make-it take-its. I hope you’ll join me at one of my stores for lots of beading fun!
